One of the systems we enjoy and take for granted in our homes and offices is the plumbing system. We use these fixtures without thought and just expect them to work. When you turn on the shower in the morning, the warm water just comes raining out of the shower head without a second thought. When you flush the toilet, it just works and we go about our business. The fact that it took hundreds, if not thousands of years to perfect these systems, we give nary a thought. Until that moment when they don't work, that is the moment when all we can think of is our plumbing systems, plumbing services
The plumbing system that we enjoy so much has two main parts, the potable system and the sanitary drainage system.
The potable system
Is the piping arrangement which brings clean, fresh water to every plumbing fixture we use. It begins at either a private well or a public water supply and branches off to the individual building it serves. From there the cold water flows effortlessly, under pressure from gravity or a pump, to each fixture. One of these fixtures is your water heater and this is where they now run in parallel to every other fixture in the building.
Sanitary drainage system,
Which is as important as the potable system. For every drop of water that comes into a building, there must be a path for it to leave the building after it has been used for its intended purpose. This is where a complicated series of pipes, known as the drain, waste and vent system takes over. This system is more complicated than the potable water system, since it requires specifically designed fittings and properly sized piping. This system is designed and installed in a way to protect the buildings occupants from bacteria and virus from the private or public sewer system.
A person who designs and installs these systems to protect your health, is known as a Master Plumber.
In order for an apprentice plumber to become a Master Plumber, he needs to work side by side with a licensed Master for seven years just to qualify to take a series of tests in order to be certified as a Master Plumber.
We have the responsibility to keep the citizens of our community healthy and free from the invisible world of bacteria and viruses.
Think about thar the next time a handyman offers to repair or install your plumbing and call a licensed professional for your health's sake.
